Senior Spotlight: Taytan Bereket

From Riverside, CA, Taytan Bereket will be graduating this year with a Health Communications degree. During her time at PUC, Taytan credits her professors, especially from the science department, as the ones who impacted her the most. After graduation, she will take a year off before starting medical school and will miss her friends and others with whom she created connections.

Do you remember what stood out to you the most when you first arrived on campus?

I would say the trees and the fact that PUC is in the middle of nowhere! The professors and everyone here were also welcoming!

What do you like the most about your program?

I love how the professors are approachable, and they want you to succeed. They are not here to put you down but want you to see you grow and be your best self!

What class have you taken that every student should take, regardless of their major?

Biological Foundations 123

Aside from passing classes, what do you want to accomplish before graduating?

I want to cherish the moments I have with my friends, go on more trips, and get a job after college.

What are you most proud of during your college career?

I am proud that I learned to advocate for myself! I feel like college pushes you to do that, especially when you’re far from home.

If you could go back in time to one moment during your years at PUC, what would it be?

I would go back to my sophomore year. That year was a lot, but it was where I was able to learn more about myself, adapt to new experiences, and learn from them.

What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Pioneers community?

My favorite thing about being a part of the Pioneers community is that you can create connections in an instant.

How would you describe your perfect weekend at PUC?

  1. Go to San Francisco and explore the city
  2.  Walking around Downtown St. Helena or Downtown Napa and having a matcha or chai.
  3. Going to the grind, getting some snacks, and going back to my room to watch a movie.

What is your favorite café or restaurant in the Napa Valley? What do you recommend?

Sam’s General! There are two locations, one in St. Helena and the other in Calistoga. Their chai is good, and I usually go there to study and reflect.

What does PUC mean to you?

PUC has meant a lot, especially with the lessons I have learned, and it will always have a place in my heart even after graduating.
