Surviving Night Classes: Top Tips

At some point in your college career, you might have to take a few night classes. Whether night classes are a breeze for you or not, some nights might be hard to stay awake or concentrate. To help you out, here are five tips on how to survive night classes.

Be Comfortable

Especially for a night class, you’ll want to be comfortable. Wear comfortable clothes to keep you comfy and that will also help you stay engaged in class. Stay comfortable, but don’t fall asleep!

Eat Before Class

If you can eat dinner before class, do it. You don’t want to go to class with a grumbling stomach. It’ll be hard to concentrate when all you’re thinking about is food.

Bring Snacks & Drinks

If you can’t eat before class, bring snacks and drinks with you to class. Try to grab something quick from the dining commons if you are able too. It’s good to always have water with you during class to keep you hydrated and more alert. Sometimes professors give the class a break, so take that time to grab some food. Having snacks and drinks helps make the class more enjoyable.

Take Notes

Taking notes will help you retain the information better and keep you active in class. If you get tired and distracted easily during night classes, write your notes by hand instead of your laptop. Having your laptop out will distract you from class and block out lectures.

Make A Friend

Having a friend in class will not only make class more fun, but they’ll be super helpful to you. They’ll help make sure you didn’t miss anything and can offer their notes if you didn’t catch something said in class. It’s nice to have someone to run the class material by and help understand certain concepts.

Night classes can be tough but hopefully, these tips will be useful to you. Try to make a routine before your night class like getting food or taking a nap if you can. Listen to a pumping song on your way to class to boost your mood. Try these tips out and find what can help you survive night classes.
