An English major or minor at PUC can pair well with a variety of pre-professional programs. Many of our students continue on to graduate studies in literature, writing, and education. Some English students even continue on to medical school, dental school, law school, or teaching English as a second language. 

PUC’s English department offers a variety of interesting classes, including Acting I: Fundamentals, Themes in Literature: Banned Books, Shakespeare in Performance, Development of the Novel, Creative Writing: Short Story, Contemporary Literature, Approaches to Poetry, and more. 

Fast Facts: 

1. For students who qualify, the department of English at PUC offers membership in Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honors society. PUC’s chapter promotes literacy and hosts literary activities throughout the year.  
2. Students in the department take place in colloquiums, which are department events specializing in intellectual and professional developments. Colloquiums cover a variety of disciplines and specialties and feature professionals across the field as well as the students’ own work.  
3. English majors have the option of completing an internship or a capstone project their senior year.
