Pioneers Profile: Lauren Sanchez

Lauren Sanchez is a first-year student who plays center back for PUC’s women’s soccer team. Coming from Hacienda Heights, she was drawn to PUC athletics because of how close and friendly everyone was on the team. “There was never a moment I felt left out when I was here on my official visit, and even now that I am on the team, I still feel the same way about them,” shared Lauren.

What values have you learned by being on the team?

I learned that we aren’t just teammates– we’re family. Everyone cares about one another and has each other’s backs no matter what, on or off the field.

How do you balance your time between school and sports

Balancing my time between school and sports can be a bit of a struggle but post it’s where I can write the stuff I need to get done down and place all over my room really helps me. Yes there are times where I procrastinate but seeing my post it’s all around my room helps me get them done.

How has attending PUC benefited your education and future career?

Attending PUC has benefited my education and future career because, as a freshman, I have already been at the elementary school getting to know the environment, and I have also been able to observe.

What is your favorite thing about being a Pioneer?

My favorite part is being able to be a part of such a small and tight community. I feel safe here at PUC and have been blessed with amazing friends.

Can you share any advice for high school students interested in being a college athlete?

If you are a student-athlete, the student part comes first always. Do not slack off on academics because it is just as important as your sport.

Outside of sports, what are other things you are passionate about?

I have become very passionate about writing. I find writing very therapeutic and good for mental health. When I am going through a tough time with school or life, I like to write my thoughts and feelings down in a journal that I have.
