Q&A with Anthony Arochi: SA Financial VP

PUC’s 2025-2026 SA Financial Vice President is senior accounting major Anthony Arochi. From Salt Lake City, UT, he came to PUC to play on the soccer team, but once he arrived, the close environment and support made him feel at home. “That’s what inspired me to stay,” Anthony said. “Being here has also motivated me to step up and take on leadership roles, because I want to give back to the community that made me feel welcome and help make it even better for other students.”

Now, as one of the leaders for PUC’s SA, his role as financial VP is to keep track of their budget, ensure their events and projects are fully funded and paid on time, and manage payments by handling reconciling accounts, organizing receipts, and keeping all records up to date for accuracy and transparency.

With Anthony’s last year at PUC, this new title is not just to build experience for his future career but to have a voice on campus and make sure students have their voices heard about their campus experience. “Being Financial VP gives me the chance to share my perspective, represent other students, and help shape decisions that affect all of us,” he said.

What are you looking forward to doing with your SA team this school year?

I’m really looking forward to all the events we have planned for the year. Even though I’m not directly in charge of creating them, I still get to have some influence as part of the team.

I’m excited to share ideas and help bring some new and creative events to campus, things that will get people involved and make student life more fun and memorable. I can’t wait to work with the team to make sure these events not only happen but also have the resources they need to be successful.

What are your goals for SA and student life?

One of my biggest goals this year is to help us save money in the small areas so we can put those extra funds toward something big and exciting for the whole campus. I’m working with my team to stay mindful of our budget and find smart ways to cut unnecessary costs. By keeping things efficient and staying a little under budget, we’ll have more flexibility to plan a major event or project that students will really enjoy and remember.

How will you advocate for PUC students?

One of the biggest ways I can advocate for PUC students is by being someone who understands and relates to different groups on campus. As a student athlete, I can connect with a lot of other athletes and understand their unique challenges, but I also see myself as someone anyone can come up to. Whether it’s sharing ideas on how to make PUC better or just talking about ways to make someone’s day a little easier, I want students to know I’m approachable and willing to listen.

My goal is to take those conversations and bring their feedback to the SA team so we can make real changes that reflect what students want and need.

What kind of culture do you want to help build at PUC?

I would love to help build a culture at PUC that feels like one big family. We’re not a huge school, which gives us a special opportunity to really know each other and create meaningful connections. If we can all come together and support one another, whether it’s at events, in classes, or just around campus. I think we can create something truly special that lasts long after we graduate. My goal is to help strengthen that sense of belonging, so every student feels like they’re part of something bigger.

What is your favorite aspect of being part of the Pioneers community?

My favorite thing about being part of the Pioneers community is how close everyone is. Of course, I’m tight with my soccer team, but it goes way beyond that. I’ve made so many other friends through sports, classes, the gym, pretty much everywhere on campus. No matter where I go, I always see someone I can say hi to or call a friend, and that sense of connection makes PUC feel like a true home.

What advice do you have for new students?

My biggest piece of advice, and something I still have to remind myself of, is to complete your homework as soon as possible. I’m a big procrastinator, so I know how tempting it is to put things off, but finishing assignments early gives you so much more freedom. PUC always has something fun going on, whether it’s events, games, or just hanging out with friends. If you stay on top of your work, you can enjoy all of that without stressing about deadlines. Basically, handle your responsibilities first so you can really make the most of everything PUC has to offer.

Describe your perfect weekend at PUC?

My perfect weekend at PUC would be pretty lowkey because I’m a chill, lazy day kind of person. I’d probably start by staying in bed for a good part of the morning, just relaxing and catching up on some rest. Of course, food is a must; if there’s something good to eat on campus, you know I’m there.

At some point, I’d get a little exercise in, whether that’s hitting the gym or playing soccer to stay active. And most importantly, I’d spend time with the people I care about. I’m far from home, so while I can’t always be with my family, I’m lucky to have amazing friends here at PUC who feel like family, and hanging out with them makes any weekend perfect.
