Tips to Avoid Getting Sick Over Holiday Break

Holiday break is finally here for you to recharge, relax, and enjoy a much-needed break from school. As you have fun with all your friends and family this winter, remember that it’s also cold and flu season. To stay well for all the festivities, here are five tips to help you avoid getting sick over break.

Wrap Yourself Up

Get all your winter clothes and accessories out to stay warm. Prevent yourself from getting a cold by bundling up when you go out.

Eat Well… Most of the Time

The best time of the year comes with the best food of the year. On top of having home-cooked meals, holiday treats are in season. If you tend to eat a lot of sweets, this is your reminder to drink lots of water, eat fruits and veggies with your meals, and take vitamin C to keep your immune system and body healthy during break.

Wash Your Hands

If you haven’t learned by now, please remember to wash your hands to keep germs away, especially after coughing and sneezing and before eating. Bring sanitizer with you, too, for when you’re in crowded places and can’t access a bathroom.

Don’t Share Food or Drinks

With the flu season here, don’t think you’ll be fine sharing your hot chocolate even if you feel fine. We know sharing is caring, but not in this case. Prevent yourself or your loved ones from getting sick by keeping your drinks and germs to yourself.

Get Lots of Sleep

Rest is much needed during your break. Between your hangouts or catching up on shows and movies, get a good night’s rest to keep.

Stay Home if You Feel Sick

We know some plans are hard to miss out, but don’t spread your germs to others. If you feel your throat becoming sore or itchy, or start getting a sniffle, or feeling under the weather, stay home and rest.
