You Got Into PUC… Now What?

by Keegan Malan

What do you do once you receive your acceptance letter from PUC? Well, there’s a lot to do, a lot of things that need clarification and next steps to be taken in order for you to be properly prepared for your arrival. Here are some things you need to do after you’ve received your letter to ensure you’re ready.

Financial Aid

After being accepted at PUC, you need to discuss financial aid with a counselor. You’ll want to talk about potential scholarships or grants that you might be able to get that will help pay for your tuition and make things easier for you. If you have already been assigned a financial aid counselor, please contact them. If you haven’t, call (707) 965-720) or email studentfinance@puc.edu

Enroll In Classes

This is something you’ll want to talk about with your enrollment counselor. What initial classes do you need to take to get you on to your academic journey? You’ll want to be particular about the classes you take and make sure you fully understand what you’ll be doing.

Reserve A Dorm Room

You’ll want to visit reslife.puc.edu and complete the housing application. You will be asked about yourself and your own personal preferences for waking up, studying, etc., so that you can be better matched with a roommate. You also have the option to pay extra to get a room all to yourself, but you need to fill out the application, and it’s better to do it sooner rather than later.

Choose a Meal Plan

You can discuss this with your enrollment counselor, but you’ll first want to visit puc.edu//student-life/meal-plan to get a real understanding on how the meal plan works and what kind of meal plan best suits you.

Get Parking Approval

In order to park around campus, you’ll need to get approved for parking. You’ll want to visit puc.edu/campus-services. There you will fill out a vehicle registration form, it will be reviewed and when you are approved you will go to the campus security building to pick up your parking sticker to put on the back of your car, and there will be designated spots where you can park according to your designation as a student.

Make a List of Dorm Supplies

What do you want to bring to the dorm? What can you bring to your dorm? These are questions you’ll want to ask yourself, and making a list would be very helpful. You don’t want to clutter your room, but you still want to bring all the essential items you need and maybe make a wishlist of things you want. A microwave and a minifridge would be just the sort of items to bring if you don’t have them. Be detailed and think things through, and jot them down on paper.

Why PUC

Even so, after you have been accepted at PUC, you might be wondering if it is right for you. I can assure you it is. PUC offers you a warm welcoming environment on a beautiful campus where you can further your education and achieve your dreams. The professors care deeply about you and will do everything in their power to ensure that you succeed. You will learn and you will relish the time you spend here, and you will not forget it. And when you finally do leave the nest, you will be prepared for the world that awaits you, and ready to face it.

There might be other things you’ll want to do, but these are the most essential. After you’ve gone through all of them, you will be well on your way to being a Pioneer.
