Great Study Spots on Campus

by Keegan Malan

Need a nice, quiet place to study for your tests, midterms, or finals? Well, look no further, for here are five great places for you to study right here on campus!

The Library, Bottom Floor

Most people study on the top two levels of the library, typically in groups, and while it is not exactly loud, it is louder than the bottom floor, which has plenty of space for you to have a nice little nook to yourself, with absolutely no interruptions. Come here and study to your heart’s content for as long as you please.

Stauffer Hall, Study Room, First Floor

Small? Yes. Quiet? Absolutely. There are no classes on the first floor of Stauffer Hall, only on the second floor, which means all you need to do is close the door and shut out all that noise from the outside world. Here you have a comfortable couch or chair and all the time you need to yourself. Just remember to keep quiet and all will be well.

The Grind

If you can’t study in complete silence or if you want to study with a group and need to be louder than usual, the Grind is for you. There are plenty of tables you can slide together for your group, or couches if you prefer, and you can talk shop. As long as you don’t yell, you can be a little loud, and no one will care. And if you get hungry or thirsty, you can always pick up a snack or coffee right there and continue your long studying vigil.

Clark Hall Study Room

With classes on both the first and second floors, there is the risk of noise bleed, but even in spite of that, this study room is rather quaint and quiet, and if you can tune just a little noise out, you should be fine. It is not all that widely used, so you are likely to have large stretches of time to yourself, though you will undoubtedly share the space sometimes with one or two people. Still, it is nice and neat, and you can study here for a long time.

Library, Main Floor, Private Study Rooms

There are three private study rooms that you can reserve anytime you want on the main floor of the library for group studying. Just call the front desk of the library, ask them if you can reserve one of them, set up a time and date, and voilà, you have yourself a nice private room, with two of them offering whiteboards for your use.

So now that you know of these five great spots on campus, head to them and do your studying, or discover your own spaces that suit your needs, and make sure that you pass those exams!
