Why did you decide to work at PUC?
Coming to PUC was totally a God thing. Ever since I decided to pursue teaching at the college level, my goal has been to work at an SDA school, and PUC was my top choice. PUC’s English department has a reputation for excellence, and I wanted to be a part of that legacy. I feel tremendously blessed that God opened doors to make it possible for me to teach here.
What should people know about your department?
Our department is home not just to people who love books, but to people who love to think, analyze, and create. We are a highly versatile major that opens up many career paths. Our English majors graduate with the skills to succeed in a wide array of fields, from education, journalism, and art to medicine, dentistry, and law.
Even if you aren’t an English major, you should take a class in our department! We offer an exciting selection of literature and writing classes that will help you level up your writing, critical thinking, and creativity. These skills are highly valued in many careers and will give you a competitive edge.
What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Pioneers family?
I am so inspired by the students here. PUC students are some of the most dedicated, hardworking, spiritual, and caring people I have met. They impress me every day in the classroom.
What would students be surprised to find out about you?
In undergrad, I minored in biology.
Where’s your favorite place to eat in the Napa Valley?
My current favorite is Gillwoods Café. Their french toast and home fries potatoes are my ultimate comfort foods. I also enjoy the local artwork displayed on the walls.
Where is your dream vacation?
Somewhere tropical, preferably with a beach!
Finish this sentence: On Sunday mornings you can find me…
Working on my current writing project, reading, grading, or walking the dog with my husband.
