James Dick has lived in Angwin since 2001. His first job at PUC was as director of the Adult Degree Completion program. At the time, PUC offered night classes in Napa for degrees in business and early childhood education. After serving that position for over two years, he transitioned into the role of principal of PUC Elementary for 17 years. James retired in 2022, but is currently an adjunct teacher for PUC’s Global Health degree program.
What is the best thing about being a part of the Pioneers family?
Life on the hill is hard to beat. I love the easy access to nature in the midst of the active academic bustle of college.
Where is your favorite place to eat in Napa Valley?
Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen in St. Helena has great Nepalese food. Recently, the Station in St. Helena has started serving excellent pizza. For a quick coffee and a bite, Model Bakery is hard to beat.
What is something you can do that might surprise people?
I like to go barefoot waterski.
What song have you been listening to on repeat?
Theme song from the Jericho Road Musical.
Where is your dream vacation?
I hope to visit Singapore one day. Northern Europe is still my favorite destination.
