From Highlands Ranch, CO, Isaac Kim found PUC to be a place where he could focus on school and his spiritual life. “Whenever I’m at PUC, I always feel ready to take on my responsibilities and pursue a life of education, health, and religion,” he shared. As a junior biology major, he is also the vice president of PUC’s Biology Club and always looks forward to their annual Albion trip.
“It’s my favorite event because the biology club and other people that signed up head out to Albion, a coastal field station,” said Isaac. “We spend the weekend out here playing games, going on hikes, kayaking, sightseeing, and enjoying the beauty of Mendocino, California. My favorite part of the Albion trip is the campfire on the last night. Everyone gets together to make smores, share memories, and make new friends.”
What do you like the most about your program?
I like the faculty the most about my program. The science departments are extremely qualified individuals who care about your success. The professors will always be available to talk with you, whether about school or everyday life. The level of education I received from the science department prepared me for my future endeavors while also driving me to pursue my passion for science.
What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Pioneers family?
My favorite thing about the Pioneers family is that nobody is a stranger. You can find your group by joining a club or student association. If you can’t find a club, you can always start your own and find others to join. There are many ways to get involved with this tight-knit community.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
If I could travel anywhere, I would travel to Korea. I love Korea because of its culture and all the things you can do there. I could live there for a year and still find more things to do every day. The nightlife is my favorite. The day never ends, and the city is still alive at night.
What is something you’re passionate about?
I’m passionate about helping others. I like to teach people how to golf and snowboard and even tutor certain subjects in school. I believe that if you have the capacity to help, then use your abilities for the benefit of others. God gave each of us special gifts, and we should utilize them.
What’s your favorite restaurant in the Napa Valley? What is your order recommendation?
My favorite restaurant in the Napa Valley is probably Hop Hings. This place is perfect for when you are craving Chinese food. I usually get the box combo with fried rice, orange chicken, and whatever else I feel like at the moment for the last option.
I love this place because the portion sizes are massive, the workers are super nice, and they make sure to fill your plate up until it can’t hold any more food.
How would you describe your perfect weekend at PUC?
The perfect weekend would have to start with me getting all my work done. Then, I’d probably grab dinner at one of my favorite spots around the area.
If it’s nice out, I would go to the lake to swim or down to the golf range in St. Helena. If I had energy, I would go to the Bay Area to try new restaurants or walk around San Francisco. I would end this weekend by relaxing with some TV or games with my friends.
