Meet Carlos Garcia: VP of Alumni & Advancement

Since graduating in 1988, PUC alum Carlos Garcia officially returned to his alma mater in February to be the new Vice President of Alumni and Advancement. Well-known in the college network, his name was brought up multiple times by campus employees when this position opened and he accepted the offer. “I came because I have always had a special place in my heart for PUC,” said Carlos. “I knew there would be some challenges, and I like challenges.”

“Alumni and advancement are very unique parts of PUC,” he said. “It is the department that brings the past and future of PUC closer together as we engage alumni and community members to reflect and remember what PUC was, what it can be, and what it should be for future generations.”

Carlos kindly answered some questions for us to learn more about him and his role as PUC’s VP of alumni and advancement.

What do you appreciate the most about working at PUC?

Peace and serenity of the outdoors. PUC is a place where you can work indoors and still feel like you’re outdoors.

How do you think PUC is unique from other colleges and universities?

PUC is not solely about academic training. PUC has dedicated faculty and staff who make concerted efforts to prepare students to serve in their communities. PUC students are blessed on the hill; when they finish, they go out to serve and bless others.

How is PUC different from when you attended as a student?

It takes more effort to walk across campus.

Where is your favorite place to eat in the Napa Valley?

Still Guignis. Every sandwich known to man is available.

Where is your dream vacation?

The coast of Greece. The water relaxes me. Its rich cultural history fascinates me.

What would students be surprised to find out about you?

That I BBQ like a pro!

If students want to get connected with other people in their fields for work or internship opportunities, how would they do that within PUC’s network?

Every department is willing to help make that happen with a simple request. The advancement and alumni department is committed to assisting in any way possible to ensure this happens.

What do you want people to know about PUC?

That PUC is a place where students come to learn in the classroom, have perfect opportunities to connect with God, and leave here serving their fellow man.

Finish this sentence: On Sunday mornings, you can find me…

On my back porch, reading, praying, with a hot drink in hand.
