There is so much more to college life than pure academics. PUC knows that, and it has presented students with many opportunities to serve others. 

Join or Lead A Club

PUC offers a variety of clubs department-wide. You can join any one of them and do not have to be affiliated with any particular department. If you’re an English major, you can join the Emergency Management Club, or if you’re a nursing major, you can join the Sol Club. You can have a lot of fun, meet all kinds of new people, and make friends. Club rush is the best and easiest way to join up, with all the clubs there seeking new members. You can walk around and ask about the clubs, and if you’re satisfied with what they have to say, you can sign up then and there. You can even create your own club if you want. To form your own club, you need to get a minimum of 10 interested students and secure a faculty or staff sponsor. Then, you’ll need to pick up a club petition from the Student Services office, and submit your paperwork for formal approval, and get approved, and that’s that. 

Perform In A Musical Ensemble 

Do you have musical talent, but aren’t a music major? You can still join one of the college’s many music ensembles. From a Symphonic Wind Ensemble to an Orchestra, you have the opportunity to take part. Some ensembles require auditions, while others do not. The only requirements are that you can play and are willing to devote time to these groups. For more information about the ensembles, visit puc.edu/music.

Report For The Campus Chronicle

Have you ever wanted to write an article for the school paper? Well, you can at PUC. PUC’s Campus Chronicle will take you if you are both willing and talented. If you can write a good article, they will welcome you aboard, and you will become a member of the team. Just contact the Editor-in-Chief of the Campus Chronicle via email, or send a message via instagram @pucchronicle, and ask about any opportunities to write they might have. 

Be A Part of A Team

It’s fun to play in any of the many intramural sports PUC offers its students throughout the year. Sign up and be a part of a team you would be a great fit for. Whether it’s basketball, badminton, soccer, or flag football, you can play in any of them, and you will have a blast. For more information, visit blog.puc.edu/playing-intramurals-at-puc/. 

Represent & Play For The Pioneers 

Just because you might not have come to PUC on a sports scholarship doesn’t mean you aren’t given the opportunity to play for any of its collegiate-level teams. If you believe you have the talent and work ethic, contact any of the athletic coaches to express your interest and inquire about a walk-on tryout. Serve With Connect Ministry

Do you feel that God is pushing you towards service? Then PUC has something for you: its Connect Ministry. Their mission is to reach out to our communities in the Pacific Union Conference and minister to them with praise, worship, and the Word of God. If you want to help others and serve the Lord, then this is your opportunity. For more information, visit puc.edu/connect-ministry.

Participate In Service Learning 

There are many more opportunities to serve others and the community at PUC besides Connect. Service learning provides students the opportunity to learn outside of the traditional classroom setting while serving their community. There’s homeless ministries, hospital ministries, food drives, and more. All of these are great ways to serve God and the community and grow closer to others. There is no shortage of things you can do at PUC. You have plenty of opportunities to have fun and leave a lasting impact on this school and the community.
