Lilyana Driver is a liberal studies major with elementary credentials. What she likes most about PUC’s education program are her amazing professors. “They foster an environment where it’s okay to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow,” she shared. “Their passion for teaching has made a huge difference in my experience.”
After graduation, Lilyana plans to find a teaching position, ideally in an elementary school, where she can create an inspiring and supportive environment for her students.
What made you decide to attend PUC?
I chose PUC because of its beautiful mountain location and the tight-knit community. It felt like the perfect place to grow both academically and spiritually. The great education program also played a big role in my decision. It offers the perfect balance of theory and hands-on experience, which made me feel confident about my future as a teacher.
Do you remember what stood out the most when you first arrived on campus?
I was struck by the beauty of the campus—there’s something about being surrounded by nature that immediately puts you in a good headspace for learning and reflection.
What has been your favorite class at PUC?
My favorite class has been Teaching with Technology. It was so engaging, and I loved learning how to integrate technology into my teaching. It gave me practical tools I can use in the classroom to enhance student learning.
Aside from passing classes, what do you want to accomplish before graduating?
I’d love to make more memories outside the classroom—whether through hikes, weekend get-togethers, or just enjoying the beauty around PUC with friends.
What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Pioneers family?
I like that there’s always something happening on campus—events, activities, and opportunities to stay involved. Even if I’m not always participating, it makes the experience feel dynamic.
How would you describe your perfect weekend at PUC?
My ideal weekend would involve a combination of outdoor adventures, like hiking or rock climbing, and then cozying up at a local cafe with friends to catch up or get some studying done.
What is your favorite cafe or restaurant in the Napa Valley? What is your order recommendation?
My favorite restaurant in the Napa Valley is Tra Vigne. I can’t get enough of their Mozzarella “al Minuto” – hand-pulled fresh mozzarella with garlic, grilled crostini, and olive oil. It’s the perfect combination of flavors and one of the best things I’ve had!
What are you going to miss the most about PUC?
What I’ll miss most is the connection with my professors. The small class sizes and the opportunity to build relationships with faculty have been invaluable to my growth.
