Faculty Feature: Wayne Borin

Born and raised in Chicago, Associate Professor of Kinesiology and Health Sciences Wayne Borin believes his role at PUC is to inform and inspire students to maintain a delicate lifestyle balance of mind, body, and spirit through the dimensions of wellness. What he appreciates the most about his department is the camaraderie and forward thinking leadership.

What brought you to PUC? Why did you decide to work here?

After teaching at La Sierra University, both full-time and part-time, I jumped at the opportunity to bring my experience to contribute to this amazing campus.

What do you want people to know about your department?

While the Department of Kinesiology & Health Sciences educates future P. E. teachers, K & HS predominately prepares aspiring healthcare professionals through academic rigor to enter graduate and professional study programs.

Do you have a morning routine to prepare for your classes?

Every morning I either run or strength train which helps organize my thoughts and elevate my energy.

What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Pioneers community?

My favorite thing about the Pioneer community is exactly that – We are a community. At other Universities I have taught there often have been a lot of commuter students which made it very challenging to build community.

Do you have a favorite place to eat in the Napa Valley?

I eat out very little, but when I do my go-to is Gott’s.

Where is your dream vacation?

Hawaii

What would students be surprised to find out about you?

Surprisingly, students are often stunned that I am vegan and an ultra-distance runner. I would think/hope that they would expect me to practice what I preach!

Finish this sentence: On Sunday mornings you can find me…

Running at least 10 miles of the 47-mile Vine Trail, since Sunday is my long run day.
